Sidewalk Chalk and what to do with an exuberant child

I have an exuberant child. I need a trampoline (said an article about raising exuberant children)...or a sandbox...she is too young for soccer. The creative side of me thought that it would be loads of fun to do some sidewalk-chalking. It did not last long, but it was fun...a little messy, but fun. I need to find an activity that will attract her attention for more than one minute, use her energy, be safe, and be able to fit into my house or teensy tiny front porch. If any of you have ideas, I would be grateful.

I sure love you, Sarah.

Looks like you had fun with the chalk too:) hehe! Sidewalk chalk is always fun, but your right it doesn't last long. If I come up with any ideas I'll let you know.

When my kids were little I would sit on the front porch and have them run around the house backwards, then skipping, then hopping, then holding hands, then sideways etc. Having been a dance teacher I could come up with lots of different ways for them to move and get out their energy.
My theory is that for nine months they are like little batteries and they charge themselves of me. Then they keep going and going and going....

Ok for a little family history. Josh is the second youngest of nine kids. His oldest sibling is in her 40s. She got married shortly out of high school to her high school sweetheart and 3 months after getting married she had an oops of getting pregnant. So Josh's first neice is only 2 1/2-3yrs younger then him. And she's actually 1 year older then me. Another funny story is Josh has a younger sister that is my same age. So Josh's mom actually got pregnant the same time her oldest daughter was pregnant. I know very weird, but that's how it is! And I'll actually be a second great aunt again in March. The next neice in line is pregnant. She's just 2 yrs younger then me. So yeah Josh's family is HUGE. On his side alone I have 14 neices and nephews, 1 great neice, and 2 more babies on the way one being another great. So yeah it's pretty crazy to be a Great Aunt at the age of 22. Never thought that would happen!
Sorry the post was so long!

I've been trying to think of things, but haven't gotten too many inspiring ideas yet. Bubbles are always fun. My mother-in-law lays out a sheet, then has a big bin of cornmeal she lets the kids play in, with scoops and sifters and such. Then she just pours in whatever spills on the sheet back into the bin for next time. Flour would also be fun to do this with--

I also have a book. I think it's called "The Toddler's Busy Book" or something like that. Yes, that's it, and it's by Trish Kuffner. There are lots of inexpensive ideas using things around the house.

Good luck, and happy playing!

I am also a fan of dancing. In our little apartment we would turn on the song "Yummy" by Gwen Steffani and sing and dance. there is a cable channel with kid music that is fun. It's like teenybopper popular, but I like that stuff! Sprinklers/waterparks/little swimming pools are great too. Sevy can run and run and it'll wear her out and cool her down. Sevy also loves cars and trucks. She can push them around, load them up, make noises with them, etc. Target has a big plastic one for cheap that sevy always wanted, but we didn't have the room for! Now smaller cars and blocks keep her entertained. There are also little bikes that sarah could ride on the walk in front of your house. riding toys are great, and there is a little bike that has a parent handle to push the tikes on. sevy loves bikes--but she is a bit older. Considering I have an exhuberant child, you would think I would have ideas.
