The Last Day of the Month

We finally signed up for a gym.  I was having a difficult time because of commitment issues. Gold's Gym was asking for a two to three year contract which seemed emotionally more than I could handle.  I had no idea what I would be doing in two to three years.  My parents only changed wards once in my lifetime; it would take effort for Andrew and I to count the congregations that we have been a part of.  I really like change.  I really fight against commitment.  It really took me awhile to get married (oh, different subject, kind of).

The gym was so beautiful.  It had everything that we could have hoped and dreamed: a pool, racquetball, tons of classes and machines...but it was kind of expensive and a big commitment (in my mind).

Finally after days of negotiating and backing out, I was given an offer that I could not refuse.

You see, it was the last day of the month.  I knew that when buying cars and gym memberships that the last day is magical, and I had actually tried it before.  The manager called me and asked if we could sign up that day.  It was September 30.

We did so with the promise that 'it would be worth our while'.

It was.

We got free gym bags.  We got VIP memberships which meant that we could use the daycare and racquetball for free.  We got a session with a trainer.  We got access to all of the gyms in the state.  And we got it for thirteen dollars per month each (including tax and the money we put down).

I love the last day of the month.

Wow! What gym is that and maybe I'll sign up at the end of October! I've been wanting to join 24 hour fitness, but the cost just doesn't seem worth it. $13.00 I could handle!

Tell them that you had friends who signed up for $13 per month. We got our original 'best deal' mentioning the Tinney's, who, when they looked them up, paid in bulk for a family plan (like two thousand something)but ended up at a little over $21.00 per month per person. So, they offered me $21.00 per month with no $99 or $20 sign up fee. I would just start with $21.00 monthly. This was not the VIP, so no childcare.

The next day they called me back, and I had mentioned that I was considering Andrew and I signing up, because $21 was a pretty good deal per person...that is when the "come in today and it will be worth your while" thing came up.

We ended up paying $1000 for 3 years 3 months. We could do it right then or in payments. They divulged that it looks better for them to have more money, so I think that we paid like $300.00 which was not necessary.

Anyway, we got the VIP, which is the best thing, plus there is a Gold's on Van Winkle (gorgeous) and by where my husband works and in Sugar house (which is about the same distance from us as Van Winkle). Andrew used the one by his work today when he had a break. I was so glad.

Long comment by me, but we were excited, and wanted others to know some of the details.

well done. I'd say your lineage may have played a part in your excellent negotiations.

I had to delete my post, because it had way too many typos. I can let a few go, but that was just embarrassing.

Basically, I was just commenting on being impressed with your back walkover skills. I've seen a lot of interesting cartwheels from family and friends, but not too many back walkovers.

I'm not too sure what my best skill was, but my favorite event was bars. I was a tall and lean gymnast and looked good swinging on bars. I, however, looked awkward and gumby-like vaulting against the short little powerhouses. Now days, I'm just lucky to get a handstand in without breaking something in my apartment.
