Happy Birthday, America!

"Happy Birthday America"! That is the phrase my uber-patriotic mate had Sarah say again and again. It was a great party.

With Mom and Dad on a mission, we forewent our annual pilgrimage to Rexburg and celebrated Saturday of this birthday year in SoSaLa (South Salt Lake). I loved it. It was two days of great community celebration.

This picture was shot at the end of the SoSaLa parade in the park. We hope the ducks are okay. As a Mom, I was okay with Sarah using her parade candy for duck food (instead of Sarah food).
America's Birthday party would not be complete without family time, so Sunday afternoon we headed down to Provo.
For Granny and Papa time, and the Freedom Festival.
In order to arise early for the festivities, we spent the night at Granny and Papa's with all of our Utah Rail cousins.
With little sleep we attended my favorite event: the early morning rising of the hot air balloons.

Then the parade.
Wearing our 'Granite Rocks' matching t-shirts. Granite i.e. South Salt Lake really does rock.

We met up with some of our favorite cousins at the parade. Sadly for us (happily for them), they are moving to Reno soon.
After experiencing the 4th here, I have goals for next year: taking part in a fourth of July running race, being in the parade, etc. Just be more involved.
I admit that the Provo parade was a little hot. Luckily, the water coming out of the hose into the play pool was akin to mountain runoff water.
This is cousin Jacob, and he and I agreed it was just right.

How fun. Summer really IS here isn't it.

We spent the weekend nursing our sick kids back to health. We did managed some sparklers though. We missed the Provo party, darn it.
