Sarah's Ride

Oprah often has lists of 'favorite things'. Well, I have one, and it is called i-Bert. It is Sarah's ride.
I love to ride my bike, and Sarah is the type that does not like to be low and strapped in (i.e. strollers or I feared, bike trailers). So, I bought one of those children's bike seats attached to the back of the bicycle that I remembered from the 70s or something. I purchased it at WalMart, brand name BELL and it fell apart (which scared me). Thankfully, it gave up the ghost without Sarah in it.

I felt trapped, and looked for another option. That is when I found the fluorescent green iBert Bicycle seat. I love it.
Sarah rides in front of me with a great view of everything, and I have a great view of her. The balance is perfect, and I do not have to splay my legs to ride with it nor do my knees bump into it. I love it.

I always worried about my other seat falling apart (which it did), but this one is really strong and stable, and took little effort to attach.
And Sarah and I can happily ride anywhere we want.  As Fall is coming upon us, I was just mourning the fact that our bicycling days are numbered.  Hence, I had to pay tribute to one of my favorite things.  Sarah's bicycle safety seat.

That is so cool. What age/pounds does it go up to?

40 wonderful pounds. It might be 35, I forget, but I am shooting for 40. I hope that Sarah stays under 35 for a bit longer. How old are children when they surpass that?

It just depends. Olivia is maybe 25 and she'll be 3 in January. Grace is 47 and she's 5. So my guess would be around 4. Where did you get it? That might be a good thing for Oliva. She does OK in the bike trailer for about 10 minutes and then wants out.

That IS cool. My kids are all under 40 pounds still (although my 8 year old isn't normal sized)--I would bet Sarah would be riding on her own before then.

I got it on amazon.com, but there is a website that will give you different locations. Just type in 'iBert child safety seat'. It was a lot more expensive than the other one I had, but half the price of a trailer. I think it was about $70-$80.
