Vintage with a small "v"

Are dresses circa 1991 considered vintage? Maybe they are vintage with a really small 'v'.
When I went home, I opened the guestroom closet and I was met by some of my old dance dresses.

I wonder if, when Sarah is old enough to go to a dance, she will say, "Mom, I need a dance dress with really big shoulder pads."

Luckily, I will have such a dress.

Too funny! I have a few of those and I think to myself, "How did this come about? Who looked at a woman and thought those shoulders are not big enough? And... why did we accept it?"

This reminds me of Anne of Green Gables, when she want to go to the ball with Diana in a dress with "puffed sleeves" I should watch that movie soon..

Matthew Cuthbert rocks!

I dare any man to watch Matthew give that dress to Anne and NOT cry.

I just barely--as in the day before yesterday--gave my old prom dress to Goodwill. Burgundy velvet with a gigantic lace collar, princess waist, and mid-calf length. (No shoulder pads, though). I love that teal satin number---lovely.

All of my dresses had princess waists save one: the green one at the top. That was my first date dress to the Christmas Dance when it was 36 below zero.

I loved that dress. It has held up well, despite my little sisters and their friends and boyfriends also donning the dress at various dances.

Don't deny it, I saw the pictures.

1991 will be Vintage if it is not now! I choose to think it is vintage! And I love old dresses and have saved quite a few of my girls'.Sharalee and I went through a box of dresses I made her from birth through high school. She wanted the patterns so she could make some for her girls. Dresses Rock!

I love the idea of making dresses for your girls that you wore. You revived that notion in me, Aunt Christy.

I have to go home and check my Mom's old patterns. How fun.

wow, vintage is awesome. I believe that I have a dress that same teal green color as well. How fun to document the oldies but the goodies. Plus, who knows, perhaps the early nineties dress style will be back by the time Sarah is in school.
